The sensoric-logical introthyme in this work is called Gabin*, according to the name of the French actor Jean Gabin, who had this very type of personality. It includes many famous Soviet actors and singers: Lyubov Orlova, Klavdia Shulzhenko, Edita Piekha, Vladimir Vysotsky, Andrei Mironov, Ludmila Gurchenko. Widely known actors are Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Adriano Celentano, Louis de Funes.

* To improve readability, nicknames were replaced by the three-letter abbreviatons. Hereinafter the asterisks (*) indicate the translator’s notes.

Among writers Miguel de Cervantes, François de La Rochefoucauld, Guy de Maupassant, George Sand, Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Georges Simenon, Agatha Christie, Françoise Sagan. All of them, to one degree or another, are characterized by brevity, a kind of restrained emotional intensity, unexpected turns of events.

Among the artists are Titian, Velasquez, Toulouse-Lautrec, Roerich (son). The objects they depict, because of their ability to display dynamics, are always in motion.

The external interests of the sensoric-logical introthyme, his outward expansiveness or outward initiative are manifested as sensoric-logical expansiveness. It is realized by the kinetic blocks of Ego and Id. The Ego’s volitional block is responsible for intellectual and mental activity, and the Id is responsible for physical and vital activity. SLI is a good tactician, capable of solving objective situations.

Inner activity manifests itself in intuitive-ethical feelings and indecisiveness. The superego is in charge of the individual’s information bank and conscience; the Superid is the base of vital activity and the receptacle of anti-conscience or claims to others. Therefore, in subjective interpersonal relations the SLI is impertinent and cautious, and is not distinguished by strategic talents.

Ego Block

The sensoric-logical introthyme is very good at understanding the space around him and the sensations it provides. He is able to take care of the well-being of others and always knows the ways to improve this well-being and bring it to the desired standards.

However, knowing the ways and putting them into practice are not the same thing. The Ego Block is more inclined to criticize others for unreasonable, irrelevant, ill-considered, irrational activity than to do something to radically improve one’s own situation in space. One deals with one’s own well-being as if by the way while taking care of the well-being of others. When they have to take care only of themselves, SLIs often appear to be just lazy. When taking care of their loved ones, they demonstrate great entrepreneurial spirit, industriousness and the ability to make ends meet in the most improbable situations. They love the work that others cannot do. If they really can’t. I had to meet SLIs in responsible work in accounting, in spite of their “sensitivity” constantly working overtime, because the welfare of the team – the timely receipt of wages or balance – the result of their creativity and ingenuity. They are everyday innovators, who get bored as soon as they run out of things to invent.

SLI’s aesthetic taste, the way he perceives and understands art and the whole environment, is determined by the overall development of the personality, not by the pressure of others. They are aesthetes who fully trust their sense of the beautiful and the ugly. It is possible to change their mind only with solid evidence and concrete examples, but it is impossible to simply confuse, confound, and force them to abandon their opinion. This applies not only to art, but also to the comfort of everyday life.
They feel responsible for sensory and aesthetic comfort in all reachable spaces. They gladly take on this responsibility, because everyone feels responsible for the accepting half-phases* and performs the duties of the producing half-phases.

* The term “phases” was explained in Augusta’s work Socion.

The Ego block is a kinetic block, and in its realization the individual is bold and fearless. They always know and are certain that they can find a solution, and they even like difficult situations. The individual achieves a lot on their Ego because this is where their conscious will is realized.

The entire space, as well as the people in it, is evaluated by what sensory and aesthetic feelings they evoke and – inclined or not inclined to work activity. This is determined by the structure of the block , that is, from to . He knows more than anyone else what people like, and what causes discomfort and interferes with work. He is able to reproduce such a feeling of well-being of people, which inclines them to work activity.

The accepting half-phase of the Ego is capable of reproducing the world standards available to it. For SLI it is sensory and aesthetic feelings. If he is an artist, he provides conceived aesthetic experiences. If an economist – by the comfort of everyday life. The mother of the family tries – tasty food, beautiful clothes, introduces the children to art. These sensory-aesthetic experiences – of others and one’s own at the same time – are the intellectual goal of SLI. He is able to achieve it, despite objective difficulties, because he is able to oppose his will to the will of others. The means of achieving the goal are people’s deeds and actions, their work, i.e. the producing half-phase of the Ego.

The SLI is bored where there is nothing to invent, rationalize, where the work is simple and uniform. He is an experimenter, inventor and rationalizer* who takes great pleasure in teaching these innovations to others. Teaching is his inner duty and need. If there is no one to teach, he feels unhappy and unneeded. He constantly makes fun of those who act or work irrationally.

* Rationalization in production – the search for more optimal ways of organizing labor, more efficient methods of production, improving and simplifying the technological process, and the like. A rationalizer is a person responsible for such things.

“The irrationality of one’s own actions is upsetting and laughable.” – E. V.

His rationalizations mainly serve to make work easier, to increase a person’s sensory and aesthetic comfort both during work and during leisure. The SLI does not tolerate pointless work, never does anything that does not bring a concrete, tangible result to him or his loved ones. He is not an ILE. They talk about the innovations, campaign for them, mock the ignoramuses who do not know how to conserve their energy. With the implementation of their own proposals, in their practice, if they are not leaders, whose precepts are perceived as orders, are slow. Until they encounter a certain recognition, the needs of others. Or there are no followers willing to follow the program and unable to handle it on their own. SLI becomes active when he has to help others. When others program him for this help by means of their own mental blocks. Fully creative activity is always a fusion of two intelligences with two different, complementary activity programs, one of which provides the method (SLI) and the other the goal (his dual – IEE).

The main thing IEE needs is moral support for the rightness of his actions. He is betrayed by one who turns away after some failure in his work: SLI does not betray in this. To betray a follower of one’s own creative idea is to betray oneself. Followers are welcomed, closely watched and defended even in mistakes. This is inherent in every dyad. Everyone needs to feel that his Superid will not be betrayed. SLI becomes active when IEE ensures that he feels needed by people, their sympathy. He also ensures SLI’s goodness with advertising. In general, all ethical ones provide their partners-duals with advertising.

Due to the fact that SLI only activates and realizes his intelligence when his methods of work are accepted, that is, after he has felt he is needed, he is sometimes considered a lazy and talkative man. A person who only talks a lot, but does nothing, waits for something, does not want to move a finger. He does wait for certain cries of helplessness and spiritual emotional support. Moreover, there is no tendency for SLI to act ineffectively, aimlessly, and not to think of goals himself, from places he must borrow from others.

Recently there was a program on TV about a Siberian locksmith-inventor who found a way of automatic thermoregulation in greenhouses. It’s freezing at night and hot in the daytime. They open the greenhouses in the morning and close them at night. The essence of the invention is a cylinder filled with oil and capron granules. When the temperature rises in the room, the mixture heats up, the piston extends and opens the windows, when it falls – closes them. The inventor is a typical SLI bragging about his sensory laziness. To the long questioning of journalists about how he came up with “something like that”, which venerable designers, not knowing what to advise on the thermoregulation of the factory premises, could not come up with, he repeated the same thing: “But understand: it’s me, I myself had to go to the site to open and close these windows every morning and evening. How long could I stand it? I had to figure it out.”

As for the amount of work – SLI should know very well what he has to do and exactly what he is paid to do. He won’t do more than that. Proud of this ability not to do extraneous things, that is, things that are of no use. But he can do for others and with pleasure, if it brings them benefit and obvious joy. It is only necessary to want, and SLI will act. He understands people’s desires by their intonation (), which automatically mobilizes him.

An example from one place of detention shows how much SLI cannot tolerate wasting energy. Those who met their work quotas got more bread than those who didn’t. Everyone worked hard, with the exception of SLI. He calculated that he would use more calories to meet the norm and would be hungrier than if he did not meet it. And since inventions on kinetic blocks are not kept secret, he explained it to the foreman. He is not against the work, he even – for, but can not turn into a fool because of it.

Another case. One SLI dreamed of becoming a fiction writer. Undoubtedly because of the pleasurable aesthetic experience that the very act of making up and writing off incredible situations and the opportunity to make fun of human frailties provides. There was kind of enough talent, and a sense of humor, too. But couldn’t find a publisher, couldn’t find the right trustees. He didn’t get confused, defended his Ph.D. in the hope that it would lend weight to his literary opuses. “If that’s not enough,” he announced to his friends, “I’ll write a doctoral dissertation, too. After that, the publishing house will not refuse, and I will finally get to do something pleasant for me.” Surely he will.

As far as I know – if SLI writes a dissertation, it is not for science. Science is understood as the invention of new methods, not copying and analysis of some phenomena. That’s why he looks at an ordinary dissertation as a step that will lead only to a certain sensory and aesthetic comfort, to the opportunity to do something more pleasant and necessary. And he will simply be loved more. The love of those around him is a basic condition of his vitality. And when SLI (let’s say Georges Simenon) claims that he never sought fame, this is absolutely true: he sought only universal sympathy and love.

So, SLI:

  • Firstly, intellectually discusses the effectiveness of other people’s work. If he has power over someone, such as subordinates or children, he gives them instructions and orders, changes the work methods from the perspective of the work’s sensory-aesthetic result. If there is no one to give directions to, he criticizes those who do wrong actions;
  • Secondly, if someone needs, if someone is able to show their helplessness or their own needs, SLI activates and begins to act, to expend their own physical energy.

However, it should be remembered that SLI’s dual, IEE, is prone to constant activity, to constant action, because of the structure of his Superid, as long as his physical state is good enough. Therefore, when SLI is confronted with requests to do something, but is confident that the one who is asking is capable of handling the task himself, he will try to avoid activity. It is a different matter when it is not possible to do it without him. Therefore, if, for example, SLI raises children, he is very hardworking, but he does not act in place of the children. Does only what is necessary for their well-being, and until they can handle those things themselves. Then early labor education begins.

SLI sees that everyone around him is doing something, sets himself some goals. But it is difficult for him to set goals, since he is an expert in methods. That is why, more often than not, he imitates that surrounding person, which goal he chooses as the most corresponding to what he knows about his physical and mental abilities.

“Therefore, the sensoric-logical introthyme is constantly interested in what other people are doing, and is constantly checking the optimality of his goal.” – E. V.

SLI’s is a creative half-phase, which is why he acts creatively, adapting to the situation, and comes up with something new every time. And he doesn’t even remember how he acted in a similar situation before. Ego block has its own special kind of forgetfulness.

is wellbeing. It is conditioned by what happens in the environment, what objects surround, how they are reflected on a person. Self-awareness is the sensations brought by the objects around us. Including your own body. Art plays a major role in this, which, from the point of view of SLI, “brings a certain order to the world, harmonizes it.” – E. V.

Caring about the feelings of other people – whether they are cold or hot, whether they slept or not, categorically emphasize that “you have to sleep at night. This, too, is for the sake of feeling good, feeling good. A person’s elegance is also just a way of giving the other and oneself a pleasant feeling and aesthetic pleasure.

SLI cares about the well-being and health of their partners. If his partner’s health is bad, he hides nothing from him, not even the possibility of a near-death experience. This may seem cruel to others, but it’s the only way to get the dual, the intuitive-ethical extrathyme, to take care of his or her health.

SLI is an expert in space planning, including the interior of an apartment or the layout of a garden plot.

“But he doesn’t like to do it all the time and keep things in order. Things often get thrown around. Deals with space only when something starts to get in the way.” – E. V.

The garden plot, where SLI manages, is geometrically clean. “Correct” distances between all planted objects. His parallel type of IM – LSI – on the contrary, has no geometry.

Sexually, SLI is not inclined to give up his sensory rights, although outwardly he is often modest. A lot depends on one’s upbringing. Although SLI throws off his chains more easily than others, it requires strong aesthetic experiences. The best example is the life of the writer George Sand.

Id Block

This is the outer kinetic block of the second vital ring. On the first half-phase of the block (3/2) the individual completely submits to the will of their environment, and first of all their dual. On the second (4/2) the individual tries to shine, to necessarily earn praise, to attract attention with their purely physical endurance.

On this block people do not invent anything new, but only choose from the list of proposed options the one that seems acceptable from the perspective of the accumulated vital energy.

Will is the third phase of IM, which is divided into two parts: 3/1 and 3/2. 3/1 is the will of the individual themself, to which they subjugate or try to subjugate others. 3/2 is the will of the environment (society and nature), to which the individual themself submits. The will of SLI (3/1) manifests itself in imposing on everyone the content of the half-phase: one’s own conscious will is opposed to the will of others. And the half-phase (3/2), which parallels it, is an implementation of the will and desires of others, and particular caution in satisfying one’s own needs. People try to satisfy those needs without attracting anyone’s attention, without anyone’s help. This is a half-phase through which people help others, but the external help on which can be used only in exceptional cases. Therefore, the SLI is independent and honest in his material interests (money is ).

SLI is not capable (and should not be, because it is 3/2) of inventing new forms of objects. But he is capable of choosing (after all, the half-phase reflects the will and taste of his environment) in the world of forms offered to him the optimum ones. One chooses what is most appropriate to the occasion, and necessarily something that is not flashy and at the same time makes others follow it with their gazes because of its elegance. The models chosen are those that are aesthetically pleasing according to the aesthetic culture of the individual. Some people, because of this, have a desire to find their own special “form of modesty,” such as dressing “like a detective. A modest one, of course.

From “the proposed” + “the most acceptable” forms a certain standard, which the SLI already uses to design himself and his duals. For the IEE, the indecisive potential Superego is in charge of the object’s form. His (1/1) reacts very sensitively to everything incomprehensible and superfluous in the form of the object, to everything unaesthetic or shocking by its unaccustomedness. The IEE reacts to all this “reactively”, i.e. so quickly, that he does not have time to realize his reactions. For example, a crumpled or dirty collar of the interlocutor may cause his/her discontent or confusion. A vague, far from noticeable nervous discontent slips in, the signal of which is completely sufficient for it to be imprinted in SLI’s memory as something completely unacceptable. In fact, the dual provides SLI with information about the proper form of objects, in which he has only a very superficial understanding. The IEE does not know how to put his form in proper order, but the SLI, who uses his information, does. Because one has a potential block and the other has a kinetic block.

“They, that is, the IEEs, give us defects of their form, which we smooth out, eliminate. We suggest what should be changed in dress, hairstyle, posture, etc.” – E. V.

The SLI himself competes with many people with his appearance, neatness, cleanliness. I had to observe the household of a single elderly man in a rural setting, who did not even turn in his linens for laundry, and everything shone with cleanliness.

That’s not to say they don’t like money, but they prefer gifts even more. A ten-year-old girl painted her grandmother’s windows, for which she received a silver spoon, which seemed completely unnecessary, but left a pleasant feeling for years to come.

The SLI also likes to be the one to give gifts. Gifts are usually inexpensive because 3/2 needs to avoid attracting attention and inviting ridicule. An item is not something the SLI uses to impose a relationship with others. The item is what others, primarily the IEEs, who are experts in gifts and in imposing relationships, use to tame the SLIs. Cautious, small gifts first. When the SLI accepts gifts, it means they accept the giver’s favor, and when they do not, it means they display a negative attitude toward the giver. When they break their relationship with someone, they are sure to return gifts. I remember how my SLI grandmother after another domestic scandal with her ESE son, and my uncle, returned the cuts of fabric meant for making dresses. The return of the gifts signifies that the SLI is no longer subject to the will of the person in question, that the external relationship is severed. On the 3/2 half-phase people submit to the will of their “programmers,” but they choose these programmers themselves, and only use their program until it starts to clearly contradict their interests.

The SLI who has broken off the external relationship cares about one more thing: that the person no longer looms before his eyes, that he will leave his space for good, move elsewhere (1/1).

SLI always has money, not so much because he knows how to earn it, although he really does, but because he does not like to buy. Spending money is a special thing, an event for which one prepares oneself psychologically. One does not buy without thinking it over, without knowing whether he really needs this thing. They can go to the store and put off the purchase several times. And sometimes they want to feel like squanderers. Then they take a certain sum in order to squander it or to buy knickknacks.

In material terms, they don’t like to give in and they don’t give away what they have. But he/she could lose because of his/her inability to argue and ask, to prove that something is not his/her fault but the fault of others. It happens that it is easier to pay a “fine” than to argue, even though by law he is right. That is, in principle, from his own does not retreat, but to go because of this stormy emotional contact does not agree: “my nerves are more expensive,” and “do not argue with fools.”

But it may be so: SLI retired. He languishes with idleness and invents all kinds of, often completely empty entertainment, but he can’t get a job for the simple reason that he will lose part of his pension. And he can’t lose it. He can’t, that’s all. This is an example of disadvantage, where instead of demonstrating the ability to work and earn, demonstrates the ability not to lose.

Each personality type measures their social “capital investment”, i.e. what they have given to society through giving to other people, by their expenses on the 3/2 half-phase. Therefore, material resources, which SLI invests in another person, must give a social return, for example, a child must grow into a real and intelligent person. Otherwise he feels robbed.

How does one treat oneself as an object, and how does one treat other people, when is the 3/2 half-phase? Just as there is only one time for ILE or IEE – their own time (3/2) – and they have no idea what others may do at the same time, so SLI knows little about other people. Neither is he capable of looking at himself from the outside and evaluating himself.

He can only evaluate what someone has created, not their natural data. A young girl admiring a guy says that he has a nice shirt and nice glasses, without noticing the disproportion in his figure. That’s exactly the kind of thing SLIs say: “A man starts with his shirt collar.”

If SLI as an object is programmed correctly by other people, and because of that learns its place among others, it fits into the social context safely. If not, he becomes a visible egocentric. Egocentrism is a distress signal, a signal of a lack of programming information. They need to know what as objects represent, what their work is worth. If this knowledge and this sense are lacking, one feels superfluous and unnecessary and behaves as an egocentric.

Due to the fact that SLI does not know what kind of object he is to other people, a woman of this type only needs to be called a witch for her to portray a witch. If called an angel, “she will be obliged, even against her will, to portray an angel.” – E. V.

This is why C. Jung called all introthymes egocentrics.

“We have, thanks to caring relatives, sometimes a collection of random things, a pile of almost single-quality things, almost the same. There are too many of them and nowhere to put them. At the same time there is a desire to use them as much as possible. He can not throw out or give as a gift, because he does not know which of those things he needs more and which is better. And which is more beautiful. And how can you give a gift without knowing the quality of things? The quality of things determines the relationship between people: you do not know one, you do not know the other.” – E. V.

Interesting attitude to unnecessary things. SLI is not a collector, he strives for a clean, uncluttered space. Superfluous things are not tolerated, tries to get rid of them.

Completely not tired when traveling, if you have to go to a beautiful and new places.

Since the qualities of the object is poorly understood, when buying things have to focus also on the price and the company. In a situation where there are two objects, but one of them is 10% better and twice as expensive, SLI tends to settle for the second, because he perceives the price as an irrefutable sign of quality, a guarantee of quality.

“It gives you a sense of peace of mind that no one will pick on you. With a quality thing, one also feels more quality.” – E. V.

Each object has an independent form, and therefore a name in human language. It is imperative that SLI know the names of all the things he has ever encountered. “How is it possible not to know the name of some flower?” – an amateur gardener wonders. – “If I see a new plant, I must leave no stone unturned to find its name too.”

“Without a name, you can’t keep things in order. A name is a form of an object you don’t understand. Or even a symbol of the object. And a symbol is easier to understand and accept than the whole system of phenomena which, for SLI, lies behind the object.” – E. V.

How to understand this: “the system that lies behind the object.” The point is that intellectually, in the thoughts of this type, as in the thoughts of all speakers, the object is not present as a system of certain qualities, but as a system of sensations that this object can give under different conditions and to different people.

As for the 4/2 half-phase, the , or external distances and relations between objects, one tries and can especially shine here, demonstrating a special vital endurance. After all, this is the half-phase where the individual’s vital energy is used.

The demonstrative nature of the 4/2 half-phase manifests itself in the way the SLI is proud of its independence and the fact that it “needs no one,” and in the fact that it is not afraid of anyone. Because of this, they make fun of them: “What can’t be said about SLI, it’s that they will hang for the company. That’s the kind of publicity they get.

– 4/2 half-phase- is the ability to influence others through external relationships – distances. To make others admire him for it and love him for it. In dangerous situations, SLI stubbornly fears nothing, calmly approaches the source of danger. In safe situations, he is proud and independent, seeming cold and inaccessible. And the more difficult it is, the more lonely it is, the more he tries to shine with this inaccessibility and fearlessness.

If SLI is confronted with nonsense, with an attempt to refute facts that are obvious to him, he does not argue: he is just speechless. He can tell, explain, but not argue. Arguing and reasoning is a realization of . His is a demonstrative half-phase of the vital ring.

So the situation should not be resolved mentally (argument), but vitally – you should increase the physical distance, walk away. This is what he does. When an argument arises, he leaves, declaring that he “has no time.” In this dyad, it is considered unseemly to prove something that is not asked, that is argued with.

“It’s useless to explain anything, and it’s even silly and ridiculous for an IEE. If you argue, you look like a fool.” – E. V.

This withdrawal is a way of showing one’s outward attitude to both all arguments and those who argue. And a way of drawing attention to his “aristocratic” poise. Attention spurs, activates, adds vitality.

“We don’t have to be paid attention every time we can. But when attention is paid, it is easier to act, easier to achieve something.” – E. V.

But it is far from always going away. On the contrary, when you can push, he takes strength: stamina and stubbornness. Strong in the psychological frontal attack. This is his main move – to go straight to the enemy. He who is stronger withstands. But this is only when he knows he is right, because this is a manifestation of : one cannot press when he does not feel he is right about this half-phase. (You can lie, but that’s a detour, not direct pressure.) This is the basic posture of film actor Jean Gabin: stubbornness, intransigence, inner rightness and fearlessness.

Louis de Funès as a comic actor chose the other half of the coin, shows how ridiculous this type is when he shows not stubbornness, but dodginess, portraying a silly little combiner who is constantly wrong.

SLI is able to change external relationships and between other people, “rearrange them like chess pieces.” Because of this, he is sometimes considered a skilful schemer who achieves his goals by God knows what means. An excellent example of this behavior is the behavior of the main character in the novel by Françoise Sagan, who changed the relationship between her loved ones in such an imperceptible way. Usually this is done not for one’s own sake, but for the sake of one’s loved ones, according to the program received from them. In dangerous situations, SLI bails out his partners by setting himself up: he is “afraid of nothing.”

What other distances between objects does SLI expect praise for? For what objective external relationships?

“He likes, for example, to find items not expected by others, things that no one else has, that especially fit the right occasion, that surprise, delight. To find something that is difficult to find, that requires special abilities. For example, to find something that is missing.” – E. V.

That’s why she likes to buy gifts, beautifully dress her children, constantly making something and… Write crime novels about the great Maigret, who finds everything.

SLI evaluates everyone, first of all, by reason, logic, and often says: “It’s not my fault that they are stupid.” The person is stupid or reasonable, a fool or a smartie. When they praise, they may say, “You’re a smartie.” But other people’s stupidity () only surprises them, it does not occur to them that these fools can and should be changed into smart people. This is the attitude of SLI only with . With , it’s the opposite. There he teaches patiently, stubbornly, and very resourcefully.

With SLI, the two logics are placed directly in the opposite direction. That’s why he feels obliged to fight stupidity, and as for the concrete work, how to do something, if others can’t do what he can do, it just surprises him.

On this block, the man is very unhappy with himself if he fails to meet the expectations of others. However, this is not remorse, but only a feeling that he did not pull it off, did not cope with the task, that there is little stamina and vitality.

It is known SLI, who in high school had only “C” grade, but at university was a straight A student. What was the reason for such a dramatic change? At school, a good education was not paid. At university, however, he was programmed by financial interest, a desire to get a scholarship for honors students.

Superego Block

This block is omnivorous, greedily absorbing all information related to its half-phases. First, it is time. But time for it is only a relation between something “internally happening”. It is not the emotions themselves that are perceived, but their course, sequence, pulse: “the purpose of the emotions, the direction, the sequence, what, how, where, how long.” – E. V. In essence, as 1/1 is a way of using time. Time can be used for external activity and internal activity. For SLI, is time used for internal activity, primarily emotional experiences.

One may know what external information this half-phase perceives in excess by knowing which inconsistencies or superfluities irritate the individual. This is because the 1/1 half-phase is characterized by a particular irritability to the incomprehensible or superfluous. The LSE has in this position, and is exceptionally irritable to various inappropriate sounds, such as the random sounds of things falling. The IEE (1/1 – ) is irritated at the sight of small abnormalities of an object, such as a sticker on a person’s face. And the SLI is irritated by inconsistency, inappropriatness, irregularity of internal processes. For example, a religious SLI does not go to church because many people who supposedly go there to pray (which is the only reason one is supposed to go to church) instead look at others and gossip. This is not allowed and is seriously annoying. The inconsistent attention in the concert hall is also annoying:

“Disrespectful emotions from listeners offend performers, lecturers. SLI prides himself on how he respects people’s emotions. You respect a person’s emotions, you respect the person himself.” – E. V.

What do you call the flow of information that goes to SLI on 1/1? It is time, bringing with it information about the patterns of internal processes. For lack of a better name, let’s call it a flow of internal time (allotted for internal activity). This flow has its own rhythm and regularity, it plays a role of rails, from which you cannot get away. Internal events, inner experiences, and emotions get into this stream. Other inner processes, any changes happening inside objects also get here.

If the internal life of the familiar world is threatened from outside, it is a threat to the integrity of the world picture, and SLI defends it by all available means impulsively and aggressively in its own way.

It can be said that SLI lives in the flows of internal time of the objects around him. He guards these flows, at the same time trying to see, hear, take into account, and pass on information to others.

SLI’s emotions (2/1) are his response to the properties of these surrounding flows. A response that also obeys the needs of the environment for this individual’s Ego activity. The more this activity is needed, the more the 2/1 half-phase can and should be revealed. Superfluous emotions are unnecessary, they shock not so much those around him as the SLI himself, who feels like a person who has opened his arms in a heartbeat and has been turned away from him. The SLI is frustrated by all the emotions of his own that have drawn the attention of those around him because they cannot be realized at the 3/1 half-phase. The desire to avoid such “interrupted action” gives rise to the need for normativity. SLI is confident that reasonable normative emotion is possible. The 2/1 half-phase is always dreaming of normativity.

One can think of it another way: the object of orientation is the rhythm and sequence of the subjective emotional reactions of the environment, the excitement and emotions of people. In order to notice all this, not to lose sight of it, special care is needed in manifesting one’s own emotions, which can interrupt contact with objective reality. Contact is broken at a time when one’s own emotional response disrupts the emotional peace of others and triggers a response. Disruption of contact stresses the SLI, showing that the act of social adjustment has failed.

For SLI, a person’s adjustment to society, his socialization, is directly proportional to the extent to which the flow of his internal processes agrees with the same flow of society’s internal life. And to what extent this internal flow of his life, his rhythms and consistency, his ability to experience and empathize are valued and respected by society. In short – what they allow him, – without causing unnecessary attention, surprise, remarks and reproaches.

Therefore, with the manifestation of emotions usually wait a long time, trying not to make a mistake, not to show their point of least resistance inappropriately. They know that any emotion can be shown in such a way that it harmoniously blends in with the overall flow.

“The emotional program of SLI must merge with socially accepted norms. Otherwise, there is a disconnect. Norms – how a person should feel and what and when he should feel – are formed in the child’s head, and the SLI has been carrying out this program all his life. Later on, the external manifestations of internal flows are only slightly corrected. SLI can give up personal comforts and personal benefits for the sake of fulfilling a personal emotional program.” – E. V.

For what does he feel he receives the attention and respect or recognition of those around him?

“For his ability to be internally level-headed and for his ability to balance others.” – E. V.

If he is internally “even enough,” then his concern for people’s well-being is more needed and recognized by society. That is, the more consistent he is in his inner life, the more valuable he is as an integral part of society and the more it needs his activity. Simultaneously, the smoother and more qualitative this process is, the more emotionality a person is allowed, because “the purer and more concrete his emotions are.” – E. V.

The emotions that SLI shows are an application for activity in social life, and it is a shame when more of this activity is shown than society accepts services from him.

“One has to be smartly, in moderation, emotional. Each segment of a given emotion must have a logical justification, and each emotion must be beautifully framed, aesthetically pleasing. In other words, you can’t lose your head. Emotions can be talked about, but not imposed on others. In everyday life, SLI thinks little about it. Everything happens by itself, inside him, almost instantly. Most people of this type, especially when they are in socially active, managerial positions, never think about it and do not feel their dependence on emotions. And they can, with a clear conscience, deny what we have said above.” – E. V.

SLI sees: the emotional life of some people, even if they are very cheerful, flows smoothly into the flow of society’s emotions, both in its beginning and its flow and result. Others go backwards like blind men, hurting with their “cruel” (EIE, ESE) or “speculative” (SEI) emotionality and causing a flurry of trouble. This is understandable – SLI tries to make sense of the flow of emotions as an objective given, whereas for EIE or ESE this is the realm of opposing their own will to what is going on outside. They do not adapt to this flow, but freely control it.

“In SLI’s view, those who do not adapt to the rest of the people can kill or support, but this is always unexpected and dangerous.” – E. V.

A person whose emotions are unpredictable, unpredictable, causes anxiety and a sense of danger. As for the intuitive-ethical extrathyme (IEE), his emotions are predictable because they result from a situation in time that is controlled by the SLI.

The SLI avoids imposing his natural emotions and moods on others, considering it the height of tactlessness and impoliteness, bad parenting, and spitefulness. After all, “you respect emotion, you respect the person.” But because he believes in norms, unless he has social opportunities (children, spouse, subordinates), he tries to subject the emotions of those around him to the norms he knows.

“Emotions must be logical, and in the name of order, SLI, without any guilt and with a sense of social obligation, violates these natural streams. It’s probably only the duals who aren’t annoyed by it. For SLI himself, it is a way of taking those around him “into the hands” (the norm) of his Superego.” – E. V.

SLI’s general smiling, cheerfulness is conditioned by the psychological climate in which he is accustomed to exist. In a favorable psychological climate in which his emotional experiences are taken seriously, respected, and even found followers, he is a very emotional person, usually characterized by a subtle sense of humor. Like no one else, feels some funny aspects of everyday life and great events, is able to make jokes about it all. The emotional life in the dyad is shaped by the SLIs, not by their duals. They are the ones who make their partners laugh, who lift their spirits, because:

“You can’t exist around frowny people. They are alarming in their own right. SLI can’t get around them. He only bypasses them when he’s absolutely certain he can’t help them. If he can help, it makes him feel that someone needs him, that he is needed. The dual of SLI, IEE, also likes to amuse the company, but he himself becomes emotionally empty. SLI’s role is to fill this emptiness. Outwardly, this emptiness is manifested by a frown, immobility, stiffness, or exaggerated complaints. SLI controls and regulates all of this both “at home” and “in public. For example, IEE “performs,” “gives a program,” while SLI monitors other people’s facial expressions and their emotional state. IEE must not overdo it, his jokes must not become a flood of emotionality.” – E. V.

From SLI’s point of view, emotions and other inner experiences are something that everyone would like to talk about, that everyone is interested in. He is able to listen to confessions about other people’s experiences and emotions, their love stories, as long as these stories themselves are unemotional. He can interfere in the emotional life of others only after they ask him to do so. It is important for SLI to know that he has a sense of proportion and tact.

In certain situations, SLI is unable to contain his emotions. This is already a breakdown, a disaster. In this case, he loses control over himself. This is why he is afraid of scandals, because they lead to an abyss. It is a real uncontrollable hysteria.

“After an emotional breakdown, SLI is not responsible for his actions for some time, because he loses normal contact with the world.” – E. V.

This applies to every personality type, everyone is afraid of snapping on their 2/1 half-phase. For the SLI it is emotions, for the SEI it is actions, for the ILE it is feelings about people and other living beings that make them capable of “screwing up.”

Even a compliment for being emotional or in a good mood is perceived by the SLI with distrust, as a more or less open hint of his tactlessness, intemperance, in general – social intemperance, lowbrow. There is nothing to be said about rebukes on this subject.

“A compliment frustrates to the point of goosebumps down his spine; a reproof makes him cold. Therefore, when he is called emotional, it feels the same as being called hysterical. Even from the words “You’re too noisy today and disturb and irritate others” – the SLI has goosebumps running down his spine.” – E. V.

Everyone needs constant external support on their 2/1 half-phase. If not: “The SLI gets tired, and then he without the slightest remorse shows his bad mood. This is a hint at what he himself calls hysteria – a provocation for others to intervene, to change the situation, a signal to the dual that the SLI needs help, that he is confused.” – E. V.

Who in society enjoys the greatest, most finely polished emotional expression? Certainly actors. Hence such a craving for any kind of acting. There is another point here. SLI is sure that he is appreciated for the consistency of his inner emotional line. But that line can be one, and there can be many. Acting gives you the opportunity to perform in different roles, that is, to show different emotional lines. It is not without reason that most pop actresses of this type not only sing, but also dance. Both song and dance in this case are related not so much to the of the Ego block, as to the need to beautifully and cleanly demonstrate the rich inner world.

All SLIs are careful in their displays of emotion, hence there is a certain mask of tension on their faces. It does not come off even when they laugh. (There is a similar mask on the face of an ILI.) As a rule, these are people with a subtle sense of humor, who love to amuse others, to tell jokes and funny stories. And yet are able to keep a perfectly calm face. They can tell the funniest things with a stone face and in front of everyone’s laughter.

“But they don’t have to. If there is no tension, they can laugh themselves. It is easier to arouse the emotions of others with their own laughter.” – E. V.

The attitude toward history is interesting. One is usually interested in history, but the focus is not on the bare historical facts (in which ethical types are so strong!), but on the fates of people caught up in the emotional storms of this or that era.

“Memories, history reminds me of a motion picture that can be rewound in any segment, as many times as you like, which, however, has a chronological order and therefore never falls apart, but is only supplemented.” – E. V.

Superid Block

This is the anti-conscience block: the accepting half-phase is , the producing half-phase is . Without outside help, without information received from other people, SLI does not know his potentialities and how sensibly and rationally to use them, what he is good for and who needs him. If there are enough stimulus signals by , the is activated. However, if there is no certainty that others will reciprocate – is not able to show active sympathy or antipathy and not capable of vital mobilization. This requires confidence in the feelings of others. Only the SLI who knows that the feelings of others will resonate with his feelings at the right moment is energetic. Energeticness manifests itself in the next kinetic block of the Id, which we’ve already discussed. To betray SLI is to mock his feelings and abilities.

The specificity of the Superid block leads to the fact that SLI tends to rebel against certain collective norms of coexistence. As far as has been observed, he often dislikes school, feels bad about it, and remembers it with distaste. “It’s strange,” one SLI told me, “where does this mutual fierce hatred comes from.” Meaning the feelings of students and teachers as he saw them.

“SLI does not tolerate equating people in anything. There has to be a different approach to each individual.” – E. V.

“Different approach” seems to be a separate treatment of each student’s abilities, because if everyone is treated equally as equally capable and gifted, then SLI is unable to discern what makes him different from the others, what it is in himself that he should develop. Because of this inability, he can really grow up to be an average grayness. Therefore, SLI are usually hostile to the system used by A. Makarenko (LII), as to the system which suppresses individuality. This, apparently, is because of the fear that in such a collective their individual talents will not be noticed and – the SLI will not be liked.

As we said before, if SLI is called a good person or even an angel (this applies to Superid), he becomes one. It also inspires, makes one energetic and businesslike, able to care more about others.

The 1/2 half-phase, like all accepting phases, tolerates even very harsh criticism and even perceives it as care. For example, criticism for narrowness of interests, passivity, negligence with respect to one’s own abilities and physical strength. SLI should be prompted what kind of work will most successfully develop his talents and abilities.

The 2/2 half-phase is “snowflake”-like, it is hurt by any criticism and comments because it expects only support. Here the SLI can only be the way he is programmed, the way he is expected to be, the way which is based on the conditions others feelings for him create. Generally speaking, the success of the whole Superid block, and the way it is when realized, is not determined by the individual themself, but by those around them.

In his thoughts, the non-dualized SLI rebukes others for not appreciating him or telling him what to spend his physical and mental energy on. He also blames them for not telling him what to want, what to learn, what to avoid. And for not being loved the way they should be loved.

The window through which you can enter each person, buy their soul, is 2/2. For SLI it is the inner feelings for him, expressed through eyes and intonation.

Speaking of Id, we said that SLI himself dictates external relationships and distances. In this he cannot be broken, he does not concede. Therefore, whoever wants to make friends with him must look for workarounds, go through changing internal relationships. Usually SLI falls in love “through the eyes of the other” before he is officially acquainted with this person. It happens that at this level, that is, at the level of an exchange of eyes, complicated romances take place, about which it is a great pleasure to tell friends. Why does SLI talk about his feelings? Because he wants information about the feelings, actions, and characteristics of the person he is interested in. He is not at all afraid that it will be reported to his beloved. On the contrary, it is very interesting when the object of love already knows that he or she is loved, but cold inaccessibility continues being demonstrated to him or her.

SLI is jealous and distrustful of his loved one. Jealous of real and imaginary rivals.

If there is a suspicion of infidelity, the fear of becoming ridiculous in the eyes of society overwhelms him. Immediately he feels ridiculous, betrayed. Hence all the anguish of jealousy: emotions are mocked, the basis of relationships with people has fallen apart, and he hangs in the air, without ground beneath his feet. Therefore, if insecurity of love () appears, tries to break off the external relationship (). And only the dual is able to bribe afterwards (and not always) with complaints about his helplessness, weakness, failure: and SLI is pitiful. If he is sure of his partner’s feelings, he can look past his more or less frivolous behavior.

SLI wants to be proud of his partner. This is evident when they are together. SLI changes, pulls himself up and tries to bring his partner forward and shows with all his appearance what a valuable person he is around.

Summary

EM and IM

Every organism is a closed system of energy metabolism (EM): reproduction of physical energy. The source of potential physical energy is absorbed external objects. Energy is used for the movement necessary in the pursuit of new sources of potential energy for the sake of preservation of life and continuation of the species. For some, one thing is available and edible; for others, another. The more mobile the source of energy being hunted, the more energy is used to get it.

Every psyche is also a closed system of energy metabolism – the production and use of psychic or informational energy. The source of psychic energy is absorbed information. Energy is used for orientation, adaptation to reality. Each type of IM adapts to their aspect of reality, “eating” information about their phase of EM. Moreover, the more complicated the task to be solved, the more mental energy the individual spends. The more he has to get.

Mental and vital energy

Reality from the point of view of the reflective psyche is formed of two parts:

  • Reality cognized from the outside, and
  • Reality cognized from within.

Externally, we cognize the external reality – the surrounding world and our own organism, which we also see from outside. But there is also a cognizable reality from within. It’s all the same, only backwards, from the inside of the body. It is not only the body itself, but through it the entire surrounding world. After all, there would be no feeling of one’s own body if there were no pressure on it from other living and inanimate objects. Feeling one’s own body from within, one inevitably feels the whole world around him. This inner perception merges man with the entire infinite material world. And therefore through this inner channel man receives information about the whole world around him, that is about much more distant objects than he receives when cognizing reality from outside.

For this reason the human psyche is split into two parts. One part reflects the external world and his body from the outside, as external objects. As a set of objects isolated from each other. The second part reflects the external world from within the organism, the external world as something continuous, fused together, inseparable.

The organism itself, from the point of view of the psyche, is something like a shell. One part of the psyche observes this shell from the outside, the other part observes it from the inside.

Because of this bifurcation, psychic energy is formed of two constituent parts: mental and vital energy. That’s why the AIM model is formed of two rings: the I (mental) ring and the II (vital) ring, and the brain is formed of two hemispheres.

The mental ring receives, processes and uses information about the external world. It is comprehension of the external reality and conscious adaptation to it. Energy is used to look for new ways of adaptation and disseminate them among “members of the tribe”, to change their minds, which is mostly done through the second signal system.

The vital ring receives, processes and uses information that comes from within one’s organism, the organism in which the entire world is reflected. It is physical merging with the world. Energy is used for instinctive physical adaptation to external reality.

The vital ring is the echo of the external world in one’s own body. This echo is also externalized, but most often only other people consciously comprehend it as it becomes a part of external reality. The individual themself is usually unable to use it without necessary training. Various eastern teachings teach how to do it. The easiest start is our autotraining.

The mental ring deals with its situations in mental ways: collection and transfer of information, dispute, evidence. Everything mostly happens at the level of the second signal system.

The vital ring deals with situations in vital ways: reception of stimuli signals and the organism’s reaction to them through the first signal system.

The source of psychic energy is absorbed information. That said, in any case as far as a human being is concerned, the information is only about one half-phase of the EM of the physical world. Type-related differences between people start with a half-phase serving as a source of potential mental energy. Just as different kinds of animals eat different foods, so different types of psyche feed on information about different half-phases of the surrounding world.

Reproduction of psychic energy illustrated by the SLI

Using Model A of the sensoric-logical introthyme (fig. 2) as an example, let’s consider how we imagine birth and use, i.e. reproduction of mental and vital energy.

Figure 2

In the mental ring there is reproduction of mental, “thinking” energy, and in the vital ring there is reproduction of vital energy.

We probably don’t need to explain that phase I is accumulation of potential psychic energy, phase II is “ignition” or self-disclosure, transformation of potential energy into kinetic energy, phase III is volitional kinetic energy, and phase IV is its use for self-support of new sources of potential energy.

In its potential form, psychic energy is born when we try to orient ourselves in our environment and our own organism, in one aspect of their functioning – in one phase, or more precisely, in one half-phase of the external environment and one half-phase of the internal environment. For the sensoric-logical introthyme it is, respectively, and .

Mental energy

This personality type is awakened to comprehension of the surrounding reality by the information flow coming to him of the patterns of internal emotional processes in time – 1/1 . SLI’s potential mental energy is embodied in the sense of time. It can be said that his mental energy takes the form of a sense of time. The more of this kind of information, the more potential mental energy there is.

This energy can be stored, it can be exchanged with others when exchanging information. In your own practice, neither this information nor this energy can be used. To be more exact, one can use the energy, but not during the current stage of its embodiment, but only after conversion into kinetic mental energy during the next half-phase. And the information itself can be used only if it is energetically backed up by the kinetic energy of the other person (usually with the dual’s Id). Because potential energy itself is not meant to be used, it is only fuel, which still needs to be converted into something else.

The next stage of embodiment of SLI mental energy is 2/1 , or – emotional excitation. It is the “self-disclosure” of potential mental energy for the sake of transforming it into kinetic energy. This self-disclosure or degree of emotionality of the individual determines how much of the potential energy is turned into kinetic energy. It’s important not to turn more than can be used in the following half-phase, as this threatens psychic trauma. Apparently, because of the fact that the energy that is intended to be used outwardly has to be burned into oneself. This makes the emotional self-disclosure of SLI especially cautious. That’s why the half-phase is called the place of least resistance.

How much potential energy should be turned into kinetic energy is determined by society’s need for the kinetic energy of a particular individual. The mechanism for regulating the process is very simple: the negative reaction of others to the excessive, leading to excess kinetic energy, emotions of the individual. The individual simply feels that he or she has “allowed or is allowing too much. The more SLI emotion is encouraged, the greater the need society feels for his kinetic mental energy. The 2/1 should reveal as much energy as the 3/1 needs. More disclosure stresses the psyche by “hitting” the point of least resistance.

The third stage of mental energy embodiment is 3/1 . That is the storage of kinetic mental energy SLI in the sensory and aesthetic senses. The more energy, the more senses, since the energy power of the half-phase determines its informational receptivity. At this half-phase, there is a volitional self-contradiction of one individual to another. For SLI, it’s the opposition of one’s own sensory and aesthetic tastes and experiences to the tastes, needs, and experiences of others. Their will manifests itself after consciously examining various aspects of other people’s sensory and aesthetic tastes. This is why SLIs are so fond of being actors, writers, and artists, of reproducing the desired aesthetic experiences of the viewer. This volitional self-contradiction is an energetic self-contradiction, so the winner is determined by the quantity and quality of the energy accumulated in a given half-phase. But it is not used here, but only in the last, fourth half-phase.

The fourth stage of incarnation and – finally – use of mental energy – 4/1 . Energy is also used to come up with new, more rational ways to spend it. This is the release of mental energy, a deliberate energetic “blow” by which one achieves a better adaptation to the world. It should be noted that SLI here uses mental rather than physical energy.

The 4/1 half-phase is a means to an end. The goal itself is outlined in the 3/1 half-phase. Therefore, this personality type invents and implements methods of work (means) that save energy and provide greater sensory comfort (goal).

Both the Superego and the Ego perform certain social functions. For the Ego, it is a personal contribution to changing the external situation. For the Superego, there seems to be a certain “anti-monopoly” and an honest effort not to appropriate for oneself what can be useful to others as well. For example, SLI introduces people to different ways of manifesting the inner life – . All forms of art are used for this, especially – active participation in them, explaining what spiritual benefit can be derived from it.

(ILE fulfills this social function by trying to introduce people. All sorts of qualities – “customer value” – are obligatorily pointed out. In essence, it tries to bring together the right people for each other, and feels responsible for this).

In general, the activity of the kinetic mental block of the Ego is limited to the following variables:

  • health, abilities, education, range of interests, intelligence;
  • psycho-energetic capabilities available, which are determined by the conditions of functioning of the previous half-phases;
  • the extent to which society needs what a given individual can give.
Vital energy

What can be said in this vein about the vital energy used for controlling one’s own body?

This type of personality is awakened to physical activity by physical stimulus signals leading to a self-perception of one’s inner physical self, the structure of one’s own body – 1/2 . This self-perception is perceived by the person as something pleasant, extremely necessary, which he craves, aspires to, and does not understand it at all with his mind.

These stimuli signals are apparently received by the body directly through the corresponding meridian or a certain part of the nervous system. What is important for now is that they innervate a certain part of the vegetative nervous system and give rise to potential vital energy, which on this phase manifests itself in something that can be called human self-perception.

The potential vital energy of SLI is embodied in the feeling of one’s physical structure, one’s inner physical self. The more relevant stimuli signals, the more potential vital energy.

The second stage of incarnation of SLI’s vital energy is 2/2 . This is inner attraction to other people. That is self-disclosure of potential vital energy, its “ignition” takes the form of attraction to other people. People around him support self-disclosure of this b insofar as they need this individual’s vital activity, i.e. how much potential energy (1/2) should be transformed (2/2) into kinetic vital energy (3/2).

The third stage of embodiment of vital energy is 3/2 . This is the half-phase of will, but not the will of the individual himself, but the will of society, which is dictated to him from outside, and the will of nature, which he himself must feel. On this half-phase a person feels himself (in this case it is , hence his kinetic energy, the Self as object). Therefore he should have and usually has as much energy as society needs. And uses it the way he is programmed.

From the point of view of SLI, he himself is a blob of kinetic vital energy, which should be used according to society’s program in the next half-phase. Moreover, realistically, as an object, only he himself exists and those objects that are separated from him, i.e. those that are embodiments of his energy. For this reason the service to others is measured by the objects that have been extracted for them. As for all other objects and subjects, it is in no case possible to oppose his will to theirs. In my opinion, this is what some teachings call the will of the cosmos, the will of nature, which cannot be violated (For each type of IM it is a different aspect, a different half-phase of reality).

The fourth stage of incarnation and use of vital energy is 4/2 . This is the use of energy to establish the necessary distances both between oneself and others, and between extraneous objects. Because of the ability to spend large amounts of vital energy on this, they can achieve exceptionally effective results. They try to realize their 4/2 in such a way as to earn recognition and love by the first two half-phases of the vital ring. Because that alone makes them vitally viable, active people.

Potential and Kinetic Blocks

There is another pattern to note. In each ring, one of the blocks is a block of potential energy (Superego and Superid). We used to call them mid-blocks, blocks of constant doubts and experiences. The other block is the block of kinetic energy (Ego and Id); we used to call them external blocks, blocks of resolute and stubborn activity, knowing neither pangs of conscience (Superego) nor pangs of anti-conscience (Superid).

Conscience is guilt incriminated against oneself. SLI can’t get over any of his emotional inconsistency and, more often than not, utterly imaginary emotional tactlessness for a long time.

Anti-conscience is guilt incriminated against others. Our claims and reproaches to them are because we have no idea what to do, how to deal with their Superid. They usually do not speak out for a long time and just hang in the air, only occasionally bursting with a hail of recriminations and claims. SLI does not forgive the other inattention to the realization of their potential abilities and lack of sympathy. Duals are able to respond to these reproaches with the necessary counterbalancing response, show an unexpected way out of the situation, to explain the man himself. In a relationship with a dual, such conflicts are even necessary for a more complete adjustment of the relationship.

Sharp conflict and frustration do not arise in the relationship between identical types, who bow to each other in the same helplessness.

Accepting and Producing Half-Phases

A person can be scolded and ridiculed on the accepting half-phases of either block because he feels no guilt in these errors. He simply did not have enough objective, abundant, or timely information. The producing half-phases are another matter. No matter how independent a block may be, criticism of the producing elements is always unpleasant and always in some way suppressive, because it is a reproach and an accusation directly against it. Moreover, criticism of the producing half-phases of potential blocks is especially dangerous. But criticism of producing half-phases of kinetic blocks is also unpleasant, spoiling one’s mood, disconcerting, or even stressful.

We managed to notice that the sense of responsibility is inherent in the human being for all the accepting half-phases. Thus, the sensoric-logical introvert feels responsibility for people’s well-being (), for their constant even emotionality over time (), for people’s development, their inner enrichment (), for external forms of surrounding objects (). These are responsibilities of very different degrees, but still the individual himself tends to call it responsibility. The responsibility of the Superego is to protect its half-phase of the world around one’s self and others. The responsibility of the Ego is to improve its half-phase. The Superego is only responsible for itself so as not to harm others, the Id is also responsible for itself so as not to oppose its will to the will of others. This is why SLI says: “I am responsible for the well-being () of those entrusted to me, and in this direction I do everything available to my intellect. I am responsible for the peaceful emotional life of all people within my reach, and I am aggressive toward all who interfere with that. I am responsible not to overshadow the possibilities , not to interfere with the development of another person. I am responsible for the external form of the subjects that trust me, and the objects that belong to me.”

In the manifestation of producing half-phases the person is always less sure, so he/she does not take responsibility and only performs duties. Duty is something that is imposed by law, moral standards, office or family status, and the various instances he recognizes. Responsibility is much broader than that, something completely irregular. Responsibility can only be taken for something that you can fully, but as mentioned, at the level of the program of this block, understand and implement.

“It was my duty to do this work, and to do it creatively, the way it’s supposed to be done, because it’s part of my duties,” SLI seems to justify himself from his . “It’s my duty to show people some emotion,” he replies to possible bewilderment over his jokes . “It’s my responsibility and even my duty to show a little sympathy toward that person, because there’s something good in every person,” he says in his . “It is my duty to explain to him what he does not understand and what he asks (if he asks),” he says from his .

Dualization

Each person’s information metabolism on both the mental and the vital ring requires the constant participation of other people, first the dual.

The sensoric-logical introthyme learns his abilities only from other people, because only they, not he, are capable of comparing its spontaneous manifestations with the same manifestations of other people and of appreciating it in a worthy manner. Only someone who sees the phenomenon from the outside, not “from within,” is capable of comparison.

Equally important is the intervention of others in the 2/2 activity, which in this case is . Whereas in the mental ring there is a need for people not to disturb the second intact with their attention, here, on the contrary, active attention and support from outside is necessary.

Intervening in the activity of the Superid is caring for the individual, constant conscious caring.

The Id does not need to be taken care of. It only needs help in avoiding possible mistakes, and to be provided with the necessary information. The information that arrives to the Id programs the organism’s activity. However, the program is not adopted blindly, it is adapted to the organism’s real needs and capabilities, to what it feels on the inside.

From the above one can draw the erroneous conclusions that the mental ring is more independent than the vital, which requires others to constantly interfere, while the mental ring freely speculates about the world problems. This is not the case. When we talk about the activity of the mental ring, we talk only about its ability to think, to speculate, to teach, but not to act. The mental ring only becomes physically active after being activated by the vital ring of the dual, or at least those of other people.

The Ego block only engages in activity after acquiring followers who want to use its ideas, but are unable to implement them on their own.

The Superego, too, only moves from talk to action after the people it provided with information start to act on their own, and it becomes necessary to straighten their line of action.

There is a certain “irradiation” of physical activity, which is transferred from one type’s vital ring to another person’s mental blocks (that are formed from the same half-phases of EM). With its own physical activity the Id forces the dual’s Superego to act, “provokes” it. Thus the Superego becomes the Id’s “acolyte”, with the Id feeding on the information it receives from the Superego. Similarly, with its helplessness the Superid provokes the dual’s Ego to real activity.

In general, when cooperating in a dyad, the initiative of a new thought, as well as the initiative of a new activity, passes so constantly from one person to another that it is difficult to distinguish who is a follower to whom and who is a mentor. It’s just that these people are, as they say, easy to work with.

The reason duals are able to successfully cooperate is, firstly, in that their models A are formed from identical blocks. Moreover, the same block is always potential for one and kinetic for the other.

Potential energy blocks provide the partner with information. The Superego brings information about the external world, the Superid brings information about the successful or unsuccessful functioning of one’s own organism. And kinetic energy blocks provide the partner and oneself with decisions. The Ego block decides exactly what the partner’s Superid must think about in order to maintain good health and ensure they remain physically active. The Ego subordinates the partner’s thoughts to its own, and through this relieves the partner of the pangs of anti-conscience. The Id block, through the individual’s actions, decides what the partner will have to do. The Id subordinates the partner’s activity to its own activity, and relieves the partner of the pangs of conscience about any inappropriate feelings or inappropriate activity, as well as worries about their indecision.

If we consistently trace all stages of functioning of mental and vital rings and all stages of their interaction with identical blocks of the dual, we will see absolute parallelism. For the sake of brevity, let’s trace this only through the functioning of the accepting half-phases of all blocks.

Functioning of the accepting half-phases

I. Potential blocks
Superego

Impulsive verbal or facial reaction to anything unpleasant – random, senseless, ugly or unusual. Avoidance of psychological discomfort. Greedy absorption of new information.

The Superego provides the dual’s Id with verbal programming information about “the right and wrong” of the external world’s phenomena. This is long- and short-term programming of the dual’s Id, providing it with programming information. The Id uses this information in its own activity, as well as to dictate to the partner’s Superego block what exactly should be done. This relieves the Superego of the pangs of conscience.

Superid

Impulsive physical reaction of pushing away anything unpleasant that causes physical discomfort. Avoidance of physical discomfort. Greedy absorption of new stimuli signals.

Through the first signal system the Superid provides the dual’s Ego with visual information for creative thinking and decisions. The dual receives this information by observing their partner’s vital activity. This is long- and short-term programming of the dual’s Ego, providing it with information that programs its intellectual activity. The Ego uses this information in its mental activity, as well as for programming the partner’s Superid. This relieves the Superid of the pangs of anti-conscience.

II. Kinetic blocks

The Ego gives verbal corrections about everything that is not sufficiently meaningful, rational, sensible, about that which is useless or dangerous. “Infects” others with its own sensibility. This reaction is an energetic boost to the partner’s potential Superid block. Etc.

The Id reacts physically and drastically for the sake of correcting the external situation. “Infects” others with its own activity. This reaction is an energetic boost to the partner’s potential Superego block. Etc.

Conclusion

The potential energy half-phases of both rings provide the partner (receiver)* with information about the acceptable and the unacceptable. This is done in order for the receiver to learn to protect the giver’s potential blocks from their own helplessness, which in potential blocks is inherent.

* Giver-receiver was added in translation to make it clearer who provides what to whom. The intertype relation discussed is duality, i.e. the giver and the receiver are duals.

The kinetic energy half-phases of both rings provide the receiver with:

  • guiding information that supports their life path and relieves them of the pangs of conscience or anti-conscience;
  • real help, so that the receiver provides the giver with information necessary for the giver’s physical or mental activity.

Without kinetic cooperation the potential blocks are plagued by doubts and conscience/anti-conscience. Without potential cooperation the kinetic blocks lack the information necessary to act decisively and willfully.

To conclude this paper, we would also like to give the simplest diagram of the functions of each phase and half-phase of the model A of IM.

Model A is formed of four phases, each of which is divided into two half-phases: one is in the mental ring and the other is in the vital ring. The half-phases of the same phase are always paired elements, e.g., and , and .

So, two paired half-phases of EM:

  • always fulfill the role of the same phase of EM, and
  • are in different rings.

So, there must be something in common and, at the same time, something different in their functioning. Today (September 15, 1984) I see it this way (symbols of half-phases are based on the SLI’s model A of IM):

Afterword

This characterization was written jointly with socionist Egle Vedlugaite, of the SLI type. Those remarks of hers, whose style I did not change, are highlighted in the text specifically so that the reader can appreciate how much the style of the ILE static type (me) differs from that of the SLI dynamic type (her).

I wish I had had a chance to comment on the texts of other authors who have written about the same personality type: C. G. Jung, A. E. Lichko, K. Leongard. I hope to be able to do so in the future.
